Hot flashes, mood swings, and insomnia are more than just annoying symptoms—they can be indicators that your hormones are out of balance. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in our Omaha clinics helps women from Papillion, Council Bluffs, Elkhorn, and Bennington, NE, and other nearby areas reduce these and many other symptoms. We can help you restore the vibrancy of youth so you can enjoy many of your favorite activities again.

What are bioidentical hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are natural, plant-derived compounds that come from naturally occurring sources such as yams and soy. They are designed to replicate the same chemical structure as the hormones your body naturally produces. It may surprise you to know that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy has been used successfully by patients since the 1930s.

Menopause symptoms & other changes

Although menopause is often thought of as the primary “change” women go through, hormones are a bit more complicated than that. Their levels don’t remain consistent throughout life. Rather, they increase and decrease, often as the result of stress, illness, lack of sleep, and yes—aging. If you’re bothered by any combination of the following symptoms, you may benefit from BHRT:

  • Weight gain
  • Mood swings
  • Reduced libido
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Insomnia
  • Memory loss
  • Fibroids
  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Persistent fatigue

Properly balanced hormones can lead to a higher libido, better sleeping patterns, and an increased feeling of vitality.

Our HRT program for women

At Preventative Medical Clinic, we take a holistic approach to your wellness. When you visit us for your first appointment, we assess your symptoms and evaluate your hormonal levels with saliva, urine, or blood samples. Once we have the necessary data, our specially trained clinicians create the perfect treatment plan for you. BHRT is administered in 1 of 3 ways:

  • Pellets: Small and discreet pellets are placed just beneath your skin. They continually release consistent levels of hormones into your bloodstream. Patients with pellets need to return a few times annually for reapplication.
  • Transdermal cream: Topical cream is the most common way to administer BHRT. These products are prescribed for you to apply at home. The active ingredients penetrate your skin to be delivered directly to the bloodstream.
  • Sublingual troches: These small lozenges are taken at home as prescribed. Rather than swallowing them whole, you allow them to dissolve beneath your tongue.

The PMC difference

Prescribing all medicine requires extensive training, especially balancing hormones, which isn’t traditionally taught in school to practitioners. The practitioners at PMC are all required to undergo extensive training focused solely on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

Find out for sure if your symptoms are due to a hormonal imbalance. Request your consultation with the professionals at Preventative Medical Clinic or call us at (402) 408-0017 to set up your first visit.
