Sports Injuries & Chronic Pain

Injuries can happen when playing sports or exercising—sometimes due to poor training practices and improper technique. Pain comes from a wide spectrum of disorders such as aging, disease, or injury. At the Preventative Medical Clinic, we are highly qualified to provide pain management services to Omaha, Lincoln, and other Nebraska-based patients.

What Is Chronic Pain?

Pain that does not go away as expected can be described as “chronic,” especially if it lasts for more than 12 weeks. This type of pain takes many forms and can be described as “shooting,” “burning,” “aching,” or “electrical.” We commonly see patients who are bothered by pain in the following locations:

  • Cervical spine
  • Lumbar area or lower back
  • Shoulder
  • Elbow, wrist, and hand
  • Hip and pelvis
  • Knee, ankle, and foot

Solutions

Our solutions include platelet-rich plasma (PRP), prolotherapy, and ozone treatments. Our providers are certified and trained in PRP, prolotherapy, and ozone procedures and continually attend professional education conferences on all these services.

  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) | PRP is concentrated platelets and white blood cells derived from your own blood. New research articles sum up the excitement of using PRP in repairing and regenerating cartilage. Your blood is drawn and spun down—and then injected into the injured area.
  • Prolotherapy | A homeopathic solution that is delivered to the areas of pain via local injection. The solution stimulates healing through its ability to raise growth factors by causing low-grade inflammation. These growth factors initiate connective tissue repair, which ultimately reduces the pain.
  • Ozone | Ozone is activated oxygen (O3) that can be injected to stimulate the fibroblastic repairing abilities of the body. Ozone can be combined with prolotherapy and PRP or used independently. This use of ozone allows the area to heal much more quickly by increasing oxygenation and blood flow to the area.
