What is the Vampire Facial?

In the simplest terms, this dramatically named procedure uses material from your own body in an attempt to aid cell renewal and promote anti-aging. Blood is drawn and then placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). This plasma contains cells that are supposed to encourage the growth of collagen and skin tissue and can be applied topically or reintroduced into your face using a needling technique. It’s a fairly short process, lasting just 30 minutes.

Are there any dangers or side effects?

Since all of the constituents retrieved in PRP are exclusively from YOU (Autologous in origin), there is no risk of allergic reaction or intolerance ever reported in the literature in several thousand papers written on the subject.

How does the Vampire Facial work?

The PRP is regenerative technology that deploys aspects of your own biochemistry. When activated with a small quantity of calcium it becomes Platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM). The 8 growth factors that are released from the platelets will instinctively know how to repair and strengthen the specific tissues in which they reside. Isolating the magic from your blood, the practitioner draws your blood from your arm (just like getting a blood test done). Then, using a centrifuge, the physician isolates platelets from that blood (platelet-rich plasma or PRP)–all within about 10 minutes in the office! Only the extracted PRP and growth factors will be used.

The Device used: Dermapen®

A Dermapen facial (microneedling) is meant to stimulate collagen and elastin fibers, which makes your skin smoother and all around clearer. After creating micropunctures with the Dermapen, the practitioner paints the PRP onto the skin. The Dermapen drives the isolated growth factors into the skin creating stimulus for tightening and rejuvenation of the collagen of the face. The absorption of the serum is increased 100 fold.
