How Does AFT Laser Work?
Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT) pulsed light is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates the subsurface layers and is absorbed by the blood vessels or pigmentation. The heat impairs the vessel or lesion, and the body begins its natural healing process.

IPL FAQ
Is a photofacial better than laser skin resurfacing?
These treatments address different concerns, so one is not better than the other. Photofacials are a skin rejuvenation treatment that addresses redness, pigment issues, and fine lines. Laser skin resurfacing improves the surface and firmness of the skin, making it a good complement for photofacials.
Are IPL treatments good for your skin?
Most IPL treatments emit a broad range of light at different wavelengths, including the ultraviolet spectrum (for which we wear sunscreen when we go outside). AFT treatments use a unique filter that eliminates the ultraviolet spectrum, making it one of the safest types of IPL.
Is there any pain during the treatment?
Topical numbing cream minimizes discomfort, so treatments are typically not painful.
Is it worth it?
With little to no discomfort or downtime and beautiful results, most patients consider these treatments worth it.
Does a photofacial help with melasma?
Photofacials can actually make melasma worse. LaseMD™, a non-ablative fractionated laser, is a good option for melasma and more.
