First, you’ll have a consultation with your provider to decide how many threads are needed to achieve your desired effect. Then, one-inch absorbable surgical PDO smooth threads are inserted via a very tiny needle into the targeted areas. Smooth threads do not require numbing. It takes approximately 6 seconds to insert a smooth thread after cleansing the area with an alcohol swab. Our providers usually place about 6 threads per session, so it’s a quick treatment.
Aside from some minor swelling, there are typically no other side effects associated with a smooth thread procedure. Patients may return to work or other activities right away if they’re comfortable. Because the procedure doesn’t involve incisions, you don’t have to worry about scars.
You’ll begin to see the rejuvenating effects of smooth threads in about 4 weeks as the body produces new collagen. The skin will continue to tighten and smooth out for about 3 to 4 months.
