Harness the natural regenerative power of growth factors in your blood with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) injections at Preventive Medical Clinic in Omaha and Millard, Nebraska. The nourishing benefits of PRF bio filler injections minimize dark circles under the eyes, rejuvenate your cheeks, and enhance the buttocks.

What is platelet-rich fibrin?

Similar to platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet-rich fibrin is a bio filler collected from the blood. Platelets in the blood are rich in growth factors that increase the production of collagen and elastin. PRF contains a higher concentration of platelets, along with white blood cells and stem cells. The body creates fibrin to hold platelets around an injury. When PRF is injected into an area of the face, such as under the eyes, it modulates inflammation and spurs tissue repair, generating new cells, collagen, and elastin.

What is the difference between PRP and PRF?

The method of producing PRF and PRP is similar. In each case, a small sample of the patient’s blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge. PRF requires less blood because it retains more of the blood’s elements. The centrifuge spins more slowly when producing PRF, which consists of fibrin, platelets, leucocytes, cytokines, and circulating stem cells. When the centrifuge spins faster, it separates platelets from the other substances to create PRP. PRF naturally forms (coagulates) into a gel that adds volume when injected and is absorbed more slowly than PRP.

Is PRF better than PRP?

PRF is often described as the next generation of PRP. Early research suggests that PRF may provide a slower and more sustained release of growth factors than traditional PRP, which could support longer-lasting biological activity. Some studies indicate that PRF may continue releasing growth factors for several days, whereas PRP may release them more quickly over a shorter period. Because of PRF’s longer release, it’s ideal for tissue regeneration and stimulating growth.

While both treatments use components of your own blood to stimulate natural rejuvenation, PRF may offer several key advantages over PRP:

  • Higher Concentration of Platelet Components:
PRF preparations typically contain platelets along with white blood cells and other bioactive cells that can play a role in tissue healing and collagen formation. The exact concentration depends on the specific centrifugation method used.
  • No Additives or Anticoagulants:
Unlike PRP, PRF typically uses no chemical additives, allowing the blood to form a natural fibrin network. This structure may contribute to a slower, more gradual release of growth factors.
  • Extended Growth Factor Release:
Some laboratory studies suggest that PRF may continue releasing growth factors over several days, potentially offering an extended period of activity compared to PRP’s more rapid release.
  • Natural Fibrin Matrix:
The fibrin matrix in PRF acts as a supportive scaffold, improving structure and helping growth factors stay active longer within the treated area.
  • Enhanced Regenerative Results:
The combination of stem cells, platelets, and fibrin in PRF promotes stronger, more comprehensive skin rejuvenation with visible improvements in tone, texture, and firmness.

Benefits of PRF injections

The primary benefit of PRF is that it employs your body’s own cells to promote the health of your skin. It also offers the following benefits:

  • Treats circles under the eyes
  • Minimizes wrinkles
  • Reduces risk of side effects
  • Stimulates skin healing

Because the product originates from the patient, it is highly safe and serves as a natural alternative to synthetic fillers, which can cause allergic reactions or rejection.

PRF under the eyes for natural rejuvenation

PRF treatment under the eyes uses your body’s own platelets and growth factors to naturally refresh and strengthen the delicate skin in this area. This regenerative approach helps reduce dark circles, smooth fine lines, and restore lost volume without the use of synthetic fillers or additives.

By stimulating collagen and elastin production, PRF improves skin tone, texture, and firmness over time. The result is a brighter, more rested under-eye appearance that looks completely natural and continues to improve gradually after treatment.

What happens during a PRF treatment?

The treatment begins with drawing a small amount of blood that’s placed in a centrifuge. As the blood spins, we’ll numb the treatment area to limit discomfort. The provider then uses a specialized syringe called a cannula to inject the PRF into the treatment area. In some cases, we’ll combine microneedling with the injections to enhance the results.

You can expect this entire procedure to last anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes, depending on your treatment area.

PRF Bio Filler FAQ

How many sessions of PRF do you need?

Most patients benefit from a series of 3 to 6 PRF treatments spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart. This allows collagen stimulation and skin renewal to build gradually for smoother, longer-lasting results.

How long do the results of PRF treatment last?

PRF results typically last 1 to 2 years, depending on your skin condition and lifestyle factors. Many patients opt for maintenance sessions to maintain collagen production and skin quality.

Should I wait to exercise after PRF injections?

Yes. It’s best to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after treatment to minimize swelling and allow the PRF to settle properly. You can usually resume light daily activity right away.
