Harness the natural regenerative power of growth factors in your blood with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) injections at Preventive Medical Clinic in Omaha and Millard, Nebraska. The nourishing benefits of PRF bio filler injections minimize dark circles under the eyes, rejuvenate your cheeks, and enhance the buttocks.
What is platelet-rich fibrin?
Similar to platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet-rich fibrin is a bio filler collected from the blood. Platelets in the blood are rich in growth factors that increase the production of collagen and elastin. PRF contains a higher concentration of platelets, along with white blood cells and stem cells. The body creates fibrin to hold platelets around an injury. When PRF is injected into an area of the face, such as under the eyes, it modulates inflammation and spurs tissue repair, generating new cells, collagen, and elastin.
What is the difference between PRP and PRF?
The method of producing PRF and PRP is similar. In each case, a small sample of the patient’s blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge. PRF requires less blood because it retains more of the blood’s elements. The centrifuge spins more slowly when producing PRF, which consists of fibrin, platelets, leucocytes, cytokines, and circulating stem cells. When the centrifuge spins faster, it separates platelets from the other substances to create PRP. PRF naturally forms (coagulates) into a gel that adds volume when injected and is absorbed more slowly than PRP.

Your Experience
The incredible service you expect from Kohll's is at the core of what we do here at Preventative Medical Clinic. When you visit us for a cosmetic or wellness appointment, you can anticipate the personal, knowledgeable care that's been our hallmark for more than 70 years.
Is PRF better than PRP?
PRF is considered the next generation of PRP. It releases growth factors for much longer than PRP, creating long-term benefits. Because PRF releases growth factors longer than PRP—up to a week compared to a few hours—it’s ideal for tissue regeneration and stimulating growth.
PRF vs PRP
Considerations | PRP | PRF |
---|---|---|
Blood components | Platelets | Fibrin, platelets, leukocytes, cytokines, and circulating stem cells |
Platelet concentration | 2 to 5 times higher | Up to 10 times higher |
Growth factor release duration | A few hours | Up to a week |
Use of additive | Anti-coagulant | All natural |
Benefits of PRF injections
The primary benefit of PRF is that it employs your body’s own cells to promote the health of your skin. Because the product originates from the patient, it is very safe and is a natural alternative to synthetic fillers, which can cause allergic reactions or rejection. It also offers the following benefits:
- Treats circles under the eyes
- Minimizes wrinkles
- Reduces risk of side effects
- Stimulates skin healing
Results emerge after 3 to 6 treatments, likely lasting 1 to 2 years.
What happens during a PRF treatment?
The treatment begins with drawing a small amount of blood that’s placed in a centrifuge. As the blood spins, we’ll numb the treatment area to limit discomfort. The provider then uses a specialized syringe called a cannula to inject the PRF into the treatment area. In some cases, we’ll combine microneedling with the injections to enhance the results.
You can expect this entire procedure to last anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes, depending on your treatment area.
