For more than 20 years, BOTOX has been a popular, quick, and affordable solution for reducing some of the lines and wrinkles that bother us most, such as frown lines and crow’s feet. But this FDA-approved injectable is known for a lot more than just aesthetics. At Preventative Medical Clinic, BOTOX helps our patients feel better, too.
Deciding to have BOTOX injections is easy when you have a skilled team you can trust. Our experienced practitioners understand that every patient is unique, which is why we customize your procedure to meet your specific goals. Patients visit us for BOTOX in Omaha, Nebraska, from cities like Papillion, Elkhorn, Bennington, Bellevue, and Lincoln, NE, and Council Bluffs, IA, because of our widespread reputation for providing the highest level of care.
What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is an injectable product commonly used for smoothing dynamic wrinkles (expression lines) caused by facial muscle contractions over time. However, the active ingredient in BOTOX—botulinum toxin type A—makes it notably versatile. It is a neuromodulator, which means it intercepts the nerve signals your brain sends to specific muscles. BOTOX works only where it’s administered, so these wrinkle treatments will not affect your body’s other functions.
Over the years, BOTOX has been found to be much more than a cosmetic product. Its predictable, effective mechanism of action makes it a good choice for treating many conditions caused by overactive muscles. At Preventative Medical Clinic, our trained injectors use BOTOX to treat an array of conditions.
Top Allergan partner
We are honored to partner with the brand behind your favorite products—including JUVÉDERM® and BOTOX®—as recognition for the quality of our patient care and the volume of cosmetic injectable treatments
we perform.
Fine lines and wrinkles under the eyes (micro BOTOX)
“Gummy” smile (over-exposed gums)
Migraine headaches
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder
Excessive sweating
Regardless of the indication, BOTOX is always administered in a series of injections, making it a popular option for people who are pressed for time or don’t want to undergo more complex or invasive therapies.
What does a BOTOX lip flip do?
A BOTOX lip flip is a lip enhancement procedure that makes the top lip look fuller without adding volume. We inject a small dose of BOTOX (2 to 4 units) into precise points of the muscle that controls the top lip. Within a few days, the muscle relaxes, allowing the top lip to roll out and up slightly (flip), exposing more of its reddish vermillion.
This treatment provides a subtle enhancement on its own and puts the finishing touch on lip filler results.

What’s the difference between BOTOX and dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers, such as JUVÉDERM, replace and increase volume under the skin, while BOTOX suspends muscle contractions that create “expression lines.” Fillers smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds; restore and add volume to the cheeks, around the eyes, and along the jawline; enhance the lips; and more.
How long does BOTOX take to kick in?
It takes BOTOX about 3 to 5 days to begin working and up to 2 weeks for full results.
How long does BOTOX last?
In general, BOTOX results last about 3 to 4 months. The longevity of your results is heavily dependent on the area we inject. Areas that move a lot, such as the mouth, typically have shorter-lived results than areas that don’t, such as the underarms.

The FDA has approved BOTOX for patients 18 and older, but there is no hard and fast rule about what age is best to start getting injections. Most people notice signs of aging in their early 30s, but some patients may see worry lines or crow’s feet develop years earlier.
Can BOTOX prevent wrinkles?
Because BOTOX limits the movement of muscles that cause wrinkles to form, the treatment can actually delay, if not prevent, those wrinkles from developing. Many patients in their late 20s and early 30s come to our clinic for preventative BOTOX injections.
Can BOTOX make wrinkles worse?
No, when BOTOX wears off, your skin returns to its pre-treatment state. Some people notice wrinkles more as the effects of BOTOX injections wear off, and they assume the treatment makes their wrinkles worse. We recommend regularly scheduled injections to maintain your results.
Will I still look natural after getting BOTOX injections?
BOTOX results should look natural and allow a normal range of facial expressions if you choose a highly trained and experienced injector who takes a conservative approach to treatments.
Are BOTOX or fillers better?
BOTOX and fillers target different types of wrinkles, so one isn’t better than the other. In fact, we often recommend combining BOTOX and filler injections during a single appointment to create comprehensive results.
