At PMC, we can effectively treat dark tattoo inks, specifically black (which accounts for more than half of all tattoos), blue, and green. Patients should expect to come back for several treatments to achieve desired results.
We use a specially calibrated laser for complete tattoo removal. The laser directs pulses of energy onto the tattoo, breaking up the pigment into extremely small particles. Over the next several weeks, the body’s natural filtering system removes the pigment.
While pain thresholds vary by individual, most people tolerate the treatments very well. The sensation has been described as a rubber band snap to the skin. A topical anesthetic can be used to numb the treatment areas.
Results
Lightening of the tattoo will be visible immediately after the first treatment. In the following weeks, the tattoo will continue to fade as the pigment breaks down and is removed by the body. The number of treatments needed to remove or lighten the tattoo varies by individual.
