Thanksgiving is over but my double chin makes me look like I’m celebrating it all year. Gobble Gobble! Time for me to get rid of this turkey neck! Thank goodness Kybella® is here. Kybella® is a medication used to improve the appearance of a double chin (also known as submental fat). Kybella® uses an ingredient called deoxycholic acid, which is naturally occurring in the body and breaks down fat. Therefore, Kybella® causes the destruction of fat cells.
First, I made an appointment with one of the practitioners at Kohll’s PMC. At this free appointment the practitioner made sure I was an appropriate candidate for Kybella® and informed me about the pros and cons of the procedure.
During my procedure the practitioner marked the treatment area and applied a grid to my double chin. The grid reminded me of those stick on tattoos my kids have that you apply with a wet paper towel. Next, ice was held to the treatment area to numb the skin before the injections. The number of injections was determined by the size of the treatment area. Two vials were used for my first treatment. The injections weren’t that bad, the ice pack was more bothersome than the injections. I did have some swelling and bruising after the procedure. The temporary swelling made me look like I had a double chin-oh wait- I already had a double chin! I’m excited to see the results from my first appointment and will most likely be going back for a second round!
